Simon Benigeri
I am a PhD student in Artificial Intelligence at Northwestern University, advised by Professor Larry Birnbaum. My research focuses on Natural Language Processing and Conversational AI, with an emphasis on building practical conversational AI systems by making LLMs more reliable and robust across tasks, domains, and conversational behaviors.
In summer 2025, I interned at Samsung Research America's AI Center on the Language & Personal Intelligence team, where I developed a novel method for improving the reasoning capabilities of small LLMs. In summer 2026, I interned on Apple's Siri Speech Innovation team, where I added active learning workflows to an automatic prompt-learning framework used by ML practitioners across language and speech tasks, including training text to speech quality judges used to evaluate Siri voice customization.
